Let’s Talk Suds: Why Less Soap Means Cleaner Laundry

Ecos Laundry Detergent

Why We Use ECOS Laundry Detergent

All of our Wash N Fold laundry is cleaned using ECOS Laundry Detergent, an environmentally responsible option that’s gentle on skin and tough on dirt.

ECOS detergents are made without harsh chemicals, dyes, or unnecessary perfumes, making them a great choice for customers with sensitivities. ECOS publishes a full, transparent ingredient list so customers can see exactly what goes into every wash.

ECOS uses plant-powered ingredients, including coconut-derived cleaners, to break down odors and lift stains without relying on heavy sudsing agents. The result? Clean clothes that rinse fully and feel fresh, not stiff or residue-coated.

The Power of Coconut-Based Cleaning

One of ECOS’ featured ingredients is coconut! Coconut oil can be processed into gentle yet effective cleaners that:

  • Break down oils and odors

  • Are safe for sensitive skin

  • Come from a highly renewable resource

A single coconut tree can produce over 50 coconuts per year and continue fruiting for decades, making it a smart and sustainable choice for everyday products like laundry detergent.

Highly Concentrated = No Over-Sudsing

ECOS detergent is highly concentrated, which means you need far less than most people think.

For high-efficiency washers, ECOS recommends about 1 ounce per load. That’s roughly the the amount to use in our smallest in-store washers.

Using more than that doesn’t make clothes cleaner. In fact, too much detergent can:

  • Leave residue on fabrics

  • Trap dirt instead of rinsing it away

  • Make clothes feel stiff or “waxy”

  • Build up inside washing machines

At Clean N Green, we carefully measure detergent amounts so your laundry gets exactly what it needs—no more, no less.

Why Less Soap + Ozone Works Better

Our detergent choice pairs intentionally with our ozone laundry system, which enhances the cleaning power of water itself.

Ozone allows us to:

  • Use less detergent

  • Clean effectively in cold water

  • Eliminate odors at the source, not mask them

  • Reduce chemical buildup on fabrics

Together, ozone and properly measured detergent create a cleaner wash that’s better for your clothes, your skin, and the environment.

Reducing Waste Behind the Scenes

Sustainability doesn’t stop at ingredients.

We purchase ECOS detergent in bulk 5-gallon buckets to reduce plastic waste. Once empty, those buckets don’t go to a landfill, they’re donated to local businesses who reuse them in their daily operations.

Every bucket gets a second (or third) life, keeping useful materials in the community and out of the waste stream.

ECOS Certifications We Love

We’re thoughtful about the products we use because they affect our customers, our team, and the systems behind every load of laundry. ECOS meets a number of third-party standards and certifications that align with how we aim to operate Clean N Green:

These standards help us offer a detergent option that’s effective, measured, and compatible with both our ozone system and our commitment to responsible laundry practices.

The Bottom Line: Suds Aren’t the Goal

Big bubbles might look satisfying, but they don’t mean your laundry is cleaner. Thoughtful detergent choices, proper dosing, and modern technology make all the difference.

At Clean N Green, we believe laundry should be:

  • Effective

  • Gentle

  • Low-waste

  • And genuinely clean

That’s why we do laundry differently, and why your clothes feel the difference.
